Inter AVin a sabbatical
I've not posted for a while. The reason for this is we've not done owt for ages. Well, when I say we've not done owt, I am, of course, lying. We have done some private parties, birthdays, engagements, that sort of thing.
Unfortunately we didn't make it to the Shakespeare to VJ for Wireless as VJ Craney who was supposed to do it was totally out to lunch /dis (kidding, sort of). Apparently the night was a great success, even without us, and they've done some more since. I think there was one last night in fact.
We were supposed to go to the PLASA show at the start of this month, to check out the new ranges of equipment, but it fell on my worst financial week of the year and I didn't want to spend 100 odd pound getting to London etc. Oh well, there's always next year.
Also, work, relationships, house moves, festivals and kids have slowed us down a bit. On a more positive note, we've been getting some new kit and plan to get a new load of lights over the next few months. And a UV pink DMX controllable laser!
We've also met some new folk we share common ground with, mostly VJs. Hopefully we'll get them involved in our evil plan for universal domination. Or maybe just VJ for us.
We're planning to get busy putting some parties on soon, but have nothing concrete at the moment. Also planning on finally getting some photos on our flickr page. And setting up a Facebook group. We'll keep you informed.

The Shakespeare
Unfortunately I've just been informed Jayney's Jack Shack night has been cancelled (for the time being) for one reason or another. Shame, we were quite looking forward to that.
In other news, Wireless soundsystem are doing a party at The Shakespeare (Sadlergate, Derby) on Saturday 10th July. We've been invited to VJ at it, and hopefully we'll be there in some shape or form. The Shakespeare is a well cool venue now that it's under new management and this will be their first big house night, the first of many I'd be inclined to bet.

The Royal closes
We found out a few days ago that the Royal in Derby is closing. The InterAVinit VJ team has been providing visuals for Jayney's Jack Shack night there for the last 3 months. The line up at the last one (at the beginning of June) included the legendary Rockin' Rob of Smokescreen fame and was a great night. Unfortunately they were just not getting the numbers on the door. Always a shame to lose a venue.
Jack Shack will hopefully restart at the newly reopened Shakespeare on Sadlergate in Derby although there's no date set for this at present. We shall keep you informed.

A brief update
The fundraiser for Denyse was a very emotional event. Much love that night in the Bar One. I've never seen the place so packed. A very special night all in all. I think we showed everyone how proud we are to have had her as our friend. We also raised £1580 on the night, with a possible cheque for £500 to come in. There are also other funds to come in, I'll keep you posted. I'll also add some of the many photos of this event when they come in. Thanks to the folk at Bar One, everyone involved in organising it and everyone who came, you know who you are.
In other news the InterAVinit VJ team will be out again for Janey's Jack Shack at the Royal in Derby this Friday (7th May). Looking forward to it - set up's a sinch, people are friendly, music's good. The infamous Rugkutta collective on the menu this month I think. Should be great!

RIP Denyse - Fundraiser
We've had some devastating news this week, our friend Denyse has died whilst on holiday in India. Denyse was always up for a party, and we want to contribute to the costs involved in returning her to the UK. To this end we are collaborating with Wireless Soundsystem and In2Deep and other people to put together a fundraiser gig at the Bar One in Derby. The date for this is Friday 30th April, starting around 8PM. All proceeds will go to Denyse's family. Hope to see you there.

Jack Shack - 2/4/10

The InterAVinit VJ team were out for Jayne and Lee's Jack Shack at the Royal in Derby last Friday. We had a great time, the people were nice, good vibe going on in the main room, good tunes, nice mix.
The visuals must have gone down well as we got lots of positive comments. The screen was right behind the DJs who were up on a stage, impossible to miss. We had a nice place to set our gear up at the back of the stage, out of the way enough to concentrate on our craft without worrying about anything else.
Anyway the next Jack Shack will be on Friday 7th May and, all things being equal, we should be down there again.
Cheers to Jayne and Lee for a great night!

InterAVinit @ Drop Inn - 09/04/10

We'll be back at the Drop Inn in Belper on Friday 9th April for Zack's birthday party! We've got a top DJ line up including Kaotic from Wireless Soundsystem, Jim and Judd, Lee Whitehead, Rob as well as local DJs Jezz, Jules and Bear. And our resident DJ Tim Giro. Plus the usual projections, of course.
Admission is £3.00 (that's less than a pint in some pubs!) with profits going to the Drop Inn. For those that don't know, the Drop Inn is a registered youth charity and has done much stirling work with and on behalf of the youth in Belper for the last 10 years. Since our New Years Eve party the Drop Inn have acquired an internet radio broadcast unit so hopefully we can broadcast the mix out live online!
The artwork here is the flier art for the night, created by graphic artist Miles Tebbut. There are limited edition prints of this for sale with proceeds going to the Drop Inn. Not sure how you get one though.... Erm,.. drop us an email and I'm sure we can work something out.
The night kicks off at 9PM and we'd advise getting there early on as the last one got very busy. Hope to see you there!

InterAVinit rock Belper 2009!
First off, welcome to the blog. We felt it was about time we let anyone who's interested know what we've been up to and what the future has in store for us.
Early on last year we were invited to do a party in a disused dance studio in Belper. Of course we accepted and on Good Friday we did our first party oop there in cahoots with Jim and Jamie of Giro Soundsystem fame. This was very cool as our own resident DJ Tim is an old Giro lad too and our first ever gig (back in 2006) was with these lads doing a live PA under the name Picnic Basket. Just like old times!
Anyway, we went back there at summer solstice and had another excellent evening. Although solstice was a major success there were one or two problems and we decided we'd not go back to the dance studio again (at least for a while!).
Luckily the Drop Inn on Derwent St. said they'd host a New Years Eve party at their place. This is what the video above is of, but the Drop Inn thought we were Wireless for some reason hence the logos. It's an ideal location and a great night was had by all. We invited guest DJs Kaotic from Wireless and Lee Whitehead from In2Deep as well as Rob from Chipshop, Belper DJs Jules and D.S. Bear and our own residents Two Decks Tim and Dave Weatherall. A very good start to the new year. Cheers to all at the Drop Inn and the Belper lot who helped us out loads.
We are currently in talks with the Drop Inn to sort out a (fairly) regular party slot as well as some possible workshops about what we do techwise. Watch this space!
